welcoming Banksy to The Park Area

He brought along this fantastic armour plated ice cream van which sold various trinkets whilst blasting out the tunes. Situated next to a traffic cone palm tree, and a lovers swing.

You won’t find any photos of the swing. Unfortunately H&S had me remove it at 1 in the morning on the first day of the show as Banksy hadn’t submitted any risk assessment paperwork. I fought his corner for a while, insisting the swing was safe after a long a dedicated installation, but they got their way and down it came. In fact I had a go myself with a letherman, ironically it required heavy duty angle grinder the next day as it was so secure.

FRIEZE ART FAIR REGENTS PARK

2002 was my second of 3 years working as a deputy to Steve Cunningham - Head of Operations for this annual major event in London. Amongst other things the climate control of the fair landed on my desk.

Taking on baord solar gain, changing hourly and daily temperatures, everyones vaired personal thermomat, not to mention the fact some fair users spend mos tof the day stood still and the rest move aronund meant this was a battle I’d never really win.

VICTORINOX STORE OPENING

Blonstein Events brought me in to complete H&S paperwork and dialogue with Westminster City Council to allow abseilers to perfrom on the side of the building when they opened on New Bond Street.

Amongst other things the goody bag contained a small souvenir swiss army knife with an in built USB stick – this was pretty revolutionary at the time. Sadly I lost it or it was taken from me at airport security. The store is still going strong, just off Oxford Street and is well stocked with luggage and plenty of sharp things.
